![]() ![]() Chronic truancy and absenteeism have become a real challenge for schools. Student mental health and engagement have been gravely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, the students YouthPower365 and Eagle County Schools serve have never needed our support more. Members will have many opportunities to engage with many community partners and learn more about the history and culture of this amazing location. ![]() World-class ski resort Vail also attracts tourists and employees from all over the world. With 52% of students identifying as LatinX, Spanish is widely spoken by teachers and students. The Eagle River Valley hosts a vibrant and international community. During their term members are provided with housing at no cost, a living stipend, health insurance, many opportunities to gain professional skills, an opportunity to be on a team of like-minded peers, and an Education Award upon successful completion of the program. The third class of the Peak Pathfinder AmeriCorps program begins August 14th, 2023, and finishes on July 26, 2024. They are currently looking for their second class of Peak Pathfinder AmeriCorps members, an exciting new program that provides wrap-around support to students and families. YouthPower365 has been working closely with the School District for the past 20 years to identify and address achievement and equity gaps to support students. This program provides housing at no cost, upon completion of the program members qualify for an Education Award ($6400) to pay student loans or for future school. The goal of this program is to reduce truancy and affect the graduation rates of the most at-risk students. Peak Pathfinders will serve in schools, providing 1 on 1 mentorship to students that are struggling academically, socially, emotionally, or with mental health. Navigation : Map reading, compass reading, and celestial navigation are all essential survival skills, and survival training teaches you how to do so.The Peak Pathfinder AmeriCorps position is a paid service opportunity that provides members with an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of youth, gain crucial professional skills, earn money for college or to pay student loans and enjoy the beauty of the Rocky Mountains.Food: Survival skills will teach you what food sources are available, how to set traps and snares, and which food sources are dangerous or poisonous.Water: Survival training will teach you how and where to find water sources for your camp and how to filter it to be safe for consumption properly.In survival training, you’ll learn how to build a fire, keep it going, and how to use a campfire to cook. Fire: Fire is one of the most crucial basics you’ll need to master.Shelter: Survival training will teach you how to gather and build your shelter so that your location is correct, insulation is adequate, and your heat source is close by (and not a danger to your shelter). ![]() First Aid : Whether you or someone in your group experiences a cut or a bone fracture, you’ll need to know what to do.Survival training will teach you how to cope and thrive in wilderness environments, where you’ll have basic knowledge on: Knowing basic survival skills can help make the difference between life and death in emergencies. The most critical outcome of survival training is gaining knowledge on survival skills. ![]()
